a little about me

When I was little, I used to doodle all the time. (Still do!)  I loved to color in coloring books. (Still do!). My mom would bring me stacks of scrap paper from her work and I would fill them up with my ideas for her. I realized how much I loved doing it. Someone asked me back then if I wanted to be a "commercial artist," as it was called back in the day. I quickly ran to our bookcase of encyclopedias to look it up. Yes, that is what I want to do! How do we make that happen?

For the next 40 years, I did what I needed to do to make that happen. I went to college and got a degree, worked for design and ad agencies, publishing companies, and I even got to teach my craft to college students for about 5 years — and now I get to work for myself. OK, that's not entirely true. I don't just have ONE boss — I have many.

I realized that being a creative person wasn't just for me to use; it is a gift to share. I find great joy in sharing what I can do so that YOUR business can grow into what you want it to be. It could be starting a new business from the ground up with a complete identity package. It could be refreshing current business materials. It could be designing materials for an upcoming event. It can be announcing something new. ANYTHING your heart desires.

But I do know this: Anything you can think of, we can do it together.

what to expect

I will give you a good faith estimate with each project. I'm always very conscientious of budgets because I'm very aware of my own budget - so I get it.

DESIGN & ILLUSTRATION:
After we agree on the estimate we will meet (in person, on the phone or email) and really discuss your goals, who your audience is, any corporate branding you might have in place currently, your likes and dislikes and what your special needs might be.

I ask for 50% deposit so I can start your work. Each project is specific to each of you so things might vary a bit, but I like to give my clients several ideas on anything they have me work on. It's good customer service and  also because I have that creative brain thing happening, I have to get all my ideas out on paper. It's in my DNA.

After we've nailed down our design, the corrections and changes are in and we finalize all the details - big and little - I will then take care of getting the camera ready artwork to the printer of your choice. I will communicate with them to ensure they get exactly what they need in the format they need it in. I will be there for you when a proof is delivered to you and we can go over it together if you wish. You will always have the final sign-off on the project. You are the boss.

PHOTOGRAPHY:
Again, after we agree on the estimate and getting a 50% deposit, we will discuss your goals for the photoshoot, the kind of shots you want, such as poses and backgrounds. If shooting a corporate event, let me know of any special stage or award giving events that might be happening so I can be prepared.

After post processing and editing the photos, I will create a contact sheet for you and burn all photos to a DVD for you to use any way you wish. You will own the rights to your photos; however, I reserve the right to use them as samples of work on my website. They will never be re-used for any other purpose.
